What is the role of the interpreter in patient-provider communication?

This approach limits the responsibility of the interpreter to the linguistic aspects of communication between patient and provider. That is, providing the linguistic conversion of a message spoken in one language into its equivalent in another. Effective message transmission, however, rests with the provider not the interpreter.
