The characteristic signs of pneumonia, which is localized in the lower lobes of the left lung is: fever (over 38 degrees); chills; headache; dizziness; pain in left lung or left breast (where there is a pathological process); increase chest pain when inhaling; sweating; nausea; vomiting; cough, sometimes with detachable sputum, which may be present in streaks of blood.

In a lobar collapse, there is a complete collapse of one of the lobes in either lung. When this happens, we see structures on the chest x-ray in places that they shouldn't be because of volume loss. For example, in left lower lobe collapse, the left lower lobe reduces in volume as air is resorbed from the alveoli.

Unlike the right lung, there are only two lobes in the left lung: the superior (upper) and inferior (lower) lung lobes [3]. Why does the right lung have three lobes and the left lung has two.
